There's so much to love about Canton — but I believe in being honest. Here are a few things that might not be for everyone, so you can decide before you move.

There is SO MUCH to love about Canton, but I believe in giving you the honest picture. A few things here might not be for everyone, so if you're thinking about visiting or moving, make sure none of these are deal-breakers for you.

A few location trade-offs

Limited public transportation. Canton doesn't have extensive public transit, which can make things tricky if you don't drive.

Not a big nightlife scene. You'll find fewer bars and clubs here than in a large city — the pace is quieter after dark.

The drive to Atlanta. It's close enough to commute, but the 40+ mile drive into the city can be a hassle, especially with traffic.

Specialized healthcare. There are good healthcare facilities locally, but for certain specialized care, some residents travel to Atlanta.

The weather takes some getting used to

Hot, humid summers. Georgia summers can be seriously hot and humid — some people love it, some don't.

Spring pollen. Spring often brings heavy pollen, which means allergy season is very real around here.

Seasonal storms. Thunderstorms and the occasional tornado risk in spring and summer can be unsettling if you're not used to them.

Growing pains

Rising cost of new housing. Because the area is growing so fast, new homes and developments can carry a higher price tag.

Higher property taxes. As Canton grows, property taxes have been climbing, which is worth budgeting for as a homeowner.

Rapid development. All that growth is exciting, but the fast pace of new development can chip away at the small-town feel and add to congestion.
