North Georgia Wineries: A Day Trip from Canton, GA

North Georgia Wineries: A Day Trip from Canton, GA

Tasting rooms, vineyard views, and mountain scenery — the best North Georgia wineries within an easy drive of Canton, from Big Door to Dahlonega.

Some of Georgia's best wine country is a short drive from Canton — no plane ticket, no all-day haul. Here's how I'd spend a relaxed day tasting through the North Georgia foothills.

Big Door Vineyards (White)

Closest of the bunch, over near White. Big Door is a farm winery with gardens, a pond, and a little waterfall — a genuinely pretty place to linger. There's live music on weekends and it's a popular spot for weddings and events, so it works as a quick tasting or a whole afternoon.

The Jasper wineries

Just up Highway 515 toward Jasper you'll find Sharp Mountain and Fainting Goat — easy add-ons that keep you close to home, with rolling vineyard rows, mountain backdrops, and relaxed tasting rooms.

Dahlonega wine country

Go a little farther north and you're in Dahlonega, the heart of North Georgia wine country. Wolf Mountain and Three Sisters are the names you'll hear most — sweeping views and full tasting menus. Pair it with the historic town square and you've got a perfect day (I wrote a whole Dahlonega day-trip guide if you want to make a day of it).

Make a day of it

This is one of my favorite easy escapes from Canton — see the rest in my Canton day trips guide. And if all this North Georgia beauty has you dreaming of living closer to it, that's kind of my whole thing — I'd love to help you find your place here.
